Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30, but in reality it varies. Understanding hurricane season and keeping an eye on the tropics can help avert a disappointing end to your dream vacation. News reports will show the obligatory news story of tourists caught off guard when a storm is approaching and vacations are disrupted. The first thing travelers want to know is if it is safe to travel. Hurricanes, however, are a recurring threat that we have learned to live with. South Florida doesn't have earthquakes or blizzards.
